Mary J. says about Plein Air Painting ,"I want to capture the excitement and the timeless wonder of a scene. When I am painting en plein air, all senses are brought into play and I am totally immersed in the process. I still enjoy setting up a still-life and working in the studio, but plein air painting is the most challenging and invigorating for me at present."

Having earned a BA in painting she has since studied with many well known artists including Daniel Greene and Albert Handell. She taught in the Orange County Schools, private schools, and local art centers. Her talents have been applied to murals, portraits, still-life, landscapes, and photography. Traveling extensively in Europe, Mexico, and the USA has enriched her painting experience. She began painting en plein air while in Key West FL in 1997.

She founded and was president of Women In Art Inc, in Orlando FL. They provided opportunities for exhibitions, workshops and studio space for artists. She is presently Programs & Publicity Director for Central Florida Plein Air Artists which organizes paintouts and exhibits for members. She produced a 2005 calendar of paintings by CFPAA members which was distributed at Disney World.
